History
Club de Campo Laukariz (Laukariz Country Club) offers its members excellent conditions for playing sport as well as an atmosphere of social life characterised by its friendliness and familiarity. Framed in a natural park which is geographically large and of great beauty in the municipality of Mungia, just 15 minutes from Bilbao and 10 from Loiu airport.
Club de Campo Laukariz (Laukariz Country Club) has many facilities, both sporting as well as catering and hospitality, and worthy of special mention among them is a 27 hole golf course, of which the first eighteen holes were opened in 1975 and were designed by Mr. Puttman. The remaining nine were opened in October 2005 and were designed by Stirling & Martin (Global Golf Company).
The holes
The golf course covers an area of approximately 70 hectares, having 27 holes, reason why one can play three official 18 hole rounds.
The profile of the course is demanding due to its slopes reason why after the course the effort of the physical exercise taken is considerable.
From the course several hills and valleys can be seen which added to the natural setting in which the game develops make it a magnificent location.

It is a par 5 of extraordinary beauty, with a very steep slide and drop to the left to right on the first section of the hole and very dangerous out of bounds on the right, on the part closest to the green.
The tee must be played to the left and that, given the existing drop to the right, the second stroke can be centred in the middle of the fairway.
From there, one can climb the slope of the hole taking into account that the fairway is narrow with a bunker to the left and the out of bounds area to the right.
The green is protected by two bunkers in front and one at the bottom, which adds difficulty to the approach shot.

Hole 2 is presented as a par 3 with an uphill having an elevated tee platform.
The most common problems for the golfer come to the right of the hole, given that, whilst being dangerously rough, coupled with a very close out of bounds area.
The green, protected by two bunkers located left to right, has an up/down slope, which ends which makes even more difficult to obtain the par.
We are at the first par-4 of the course, characterised by its dogleg shape to the left.
The tee has two problems: the out of bounds that runs along the right side of the hole and the two bunkers located in the middle of the fairway, which tend to pick up the tee.
The second shot is difficult, given that there is a green located on a small hill and protected by two bunkers, coupled with a completely crossed stance in relation to the direction of the fairway and the position of the green.
Hole 4 of the Country Club course is an extraordinarily beautiful hole with a 90 degree dogleg to the left.
The tee shot must be set so that the ball must be between the bunker at the back of the fairway and the forest of the left side of the fairway, as this may impede playing the second shot to the green.
The green is difficult to access with two bunkers to the left and a very steep slope on the right; additionally, it has an up/down slope, which makes it more difficult finish this beautiful hole.
Hole 5 is an alternative option in the way of playing the hole: the most daring golfer can choose to play a wood and enter into the green; the player who does not want to risk it can play the platform using an iron, and from there to attack the green.
The fairway has a continuous slope downwards and from the platform to the green there is a thick rough.
The green is protected by a lake on the left and bunkers on the right.
The second par 3 of the course is a hole of great beauty, protected by three lakes; the first one intimidates the tee shot, given that one has to cross it; the other two lakes protect the right side of the hole.
Furthermore, a mountain protects the left side of the green.
The green is tricky given that two bunkers guard it, and it must be added that it is a very large green and with a piano which divides it.
It is a par 4 hole with a dogleg to the left and a very steep slope in the second section of the hole.
It is a dangerous tee drop, and above all, it is narrow, given that to the left there is a lake and to the right, there are three bunkers which are strategically placed.
The second shot has as its main difficulty a stance with the feet higher than the ball and an elevated green.
The green is defended by two bunkers, having a size of 23 metres and a slight decline.
It is the second par 5 of the first round, with a slight dogleg to the right, a steep watercourse, ending in continuous ascent to the green.
The first difficulty arises with the tee, given that before the narrow and short space of land for the ball drop, many players do not hit it.
It is convenient to lean slightly to the right, given that the configuration of the terrain tends to bring the ball to the centre of the fairway, as to the left of the land there is a very thick rough and a bunker.
Except the forest to the right with our tee shot, second shot will fly to the watercourse and one will be in the perfect position to attack the green, approaching same wherein it influences the slope and elevated green.
The green is large, 37 metres and is protected by two bunkers. Difficulties in green are increased by having two platforms.
Hole 9 of the golf course is a par 4 of great beauty; the tee is located high up.
The fall of the tee should always lean to the right, given that to the left there is a forest which impedes reaching the green on the second shot.
The green is located high up with a major steep upwards to downwards reason why the tee requires great precision.
On the right side the green is protected by two bunkers which make it even harder to access same.

Hole 10 is a par 4 with a downward slope in the first part of the hole and a slight dogleg to the right.
The tee drop requires great precision given that on the right side is a very close to the out of bounds and on the left there are trees that impede executing the second shot easily.
The green, the largest of the 27 holes, has two platforms.
The highest platform is located on the left side and when the flag is located in it, there is a bunker which guards the entrance to the green.
When the flag is placed on the platform below, on the right, the danger comes from the right, given that stuck to the green, there is an obstacle with thick vegetation.
Another of the largest holes of our golf course is hole 11, par 4.
With a watercourse with thick vegetation and a lake to the right of the gentlemen’s tee, the tee is complicated by the narrowness of the inclination and protection that the bunkers to the left and right accomplish.
So as to reach in green in one stroke one should approach the shot slightly to the right, given that the left side of the green is very offensive
Hole 12 hole is the easiest hole on the golf course.
It is a par 3, with a slight upward slope and whose green has two platforms.
The green is protected by a bunker on the left and a tree on the right.
Having an elevated tee and green and a deep watercourse, this par 4 presents some difficulties in the tee shot, given that the rough on the right is fairly wooded and that of the left, is near the out of bounds.
The green in one stroke shot shall have to play taking into account the unevenness in height and positioning of the bunkers surrounding the green.
The green, having a slope from right to left and slightly downhill, presents certain difficulties.
This par 4 is one of the most difficult holes of the course.
Located between the housing estate and the 15th hole, its main feature is its length.
It is useful to support the tee slightly to the left, given that the terrain has an inclination to the right is all along the entire length of the hole.
In the second shot, one must assess the elevated location of the green and the flag position, given that the strokes with the putt require great precision as it is a fast green with a downhill slope.
Hole 15 is the third par-5 of the course. Having an elevated teeing ground.
The slope area of the tee has a slight slope to the left where there is a water hazard, reason why one has to lean slightly to the right.
In the second shot, if the tee has been long, one can attempt to reach the green but it is a very risky shot given that there are many trees which impede visibility and a large lake which is exceedingly difficult to outdistance.
The most common option is to run an approach shot to a platform located 50 metres from the green.
In this stroke, the risk is not excessive given that one hits the stroke using a short iron; however, there are two trees in the middle of the fairway which one must procure not to hit.
The third shot does not pose any difficulty given that the bunkers that protect the green on both sides are somewhat out of the way.
The green is long and narrow, with a slight slope from left to right.
Hole 16 is a short par four.
The drop of the first stroke is very narrow and with very uneven terrain to the left as well as being protected by a bunker on each side of the fairway and a water hazard on the left side, reason why placement is more important than distance.
The green is protected to the right by a rough very close to the green and to the left by a lake.
The most dangerous situation of the hole is to the left side precisely to its proximity to the green of the water hazard.
With an elevated tee and deed watercourse, Hole 17 is the fourth par-3 of the course.
The green is protected by several bunkers to the right of the green, making it convenient to lean to its left
Hole 18 is the fourth par-5 of the golf course and the longest of the course.
In addition to being the longest, it has a slight upward slope from the tee to the green which adds even more difficulty to the hole.
The fairway is very wide but the tee stroke is protected by a bunker to the right and a large tree on the left.
The slope of the second shot is narrow.
The green is located high up having zero visibility of same.
It is protected by a bunker to the left and has three platforms.

Hole 19 is the fifth par 5 of the golf course and with a very steep downward slope in the first part of the hole and a slight dogleg to the right.
The tee stroke is protected by two bunkers to the right and one to the left.
The second shot poses no great difficulty, if at all, some risk on the left side.
The green is slightly elevated and is protected by a bunker on the left and several trees on the right.
Hole 20 is a par 4 having high accuracy.
It has a dogleg to the right and if the placement of the first shot is inadequate will not have shot to the green in the second stroke.
The green is strongly protected by a bunker in front of it and several other trees in the area.
Hole 21 is par 4 with a slight downward slope and a slight dogleg to the right.
The tee stroke is protected by several bunkers and trees on the right and by the out of bounds on the left side.
The green is protected by a bunker at the entrance and two at the back.
Hole 22 is a par 4 which is not very long, but its narrowness in the way out (lake on the left and out of bounds to the right) requires a very accurate stroke.
The green is protected by three bunkers, one on the left, one on the right and one at the bottom.
Hole 23 is the fifth par 3 is the golf course, it is long hole and the green is protected by a lake and a bunker on the right, a bunker on the left and an out of bounds very close to the green at the back.
Hole 24 is a very long par 4.
The tee stroke poses no difficulty given that the fairway in that area is very wide and there are no surrounding obstacles.
However, the approach shot poses great difficulty given that it is a long shot and the green is very close to a water hazard on the left side thereof.
Furthermore, on the right there is a bunker which makes this shot even harder.
Hole 25 is a par 4 with a slight upward slope.
The tee stroke is protected by a bunker to its left. The risk in this shot is the left side where there is an out of bounds.
The placement of the ball is very important given that the green is surrounded by pine trees and being able to reach is complicated if the first shot is not correctly placed.
The green has a slight up-down gradient reason why it is recommended to play a short shot.
Hole 26 is the sixth par-3 sixth of the golf course.
The green is slightly elevated and is protected by a bunker on the left and trees on the right.
Hole 27 is the sixth par-5 sixth of the golf course.
The tee stroke must be supported on the left side given that there is a very steep slope to the right.
The second shot does not pose many difficulties given that the fall of the ball is a free zone.
The green is the most difficult of the golf course for two reasons: Firstly, that is protected by a bunker which practically surrounds it.
Secondly it has three very narrow platforms and with very steep and uneven terrain between them.
It is very important that the ball remains on the platform wherein the hole is located.
